Interior Designer in Moonee Ponds.
Custom joinery, furniture selection and photo-realistic renders, before a single trades person is booked.
Studio Carlyle is a Moonee Ponds-based interior design studio, working with homeowners across Melbourne's inner north-west on renovations, new builds and considered family homes.
Moonee Ponds is a suburb of strong architectural character - from ornate Edwardian facades near Queens Park, to sleek contemporary townhouses on the station fringe. We design interiors that are in conversation with the building they live in, not imposed upon it. Whether you're renovating a period home with heritage overlays, fitting out a new build, or refreshing a family home that's grown with you, we bring the same level of precision and detail to every project.
You’ll see It Before it is Built
01 - Design & Renders. We develop your interior design concept and present it via high-quality photo realistic renders - so you can see exactly how your space will look. Materials, finishes, joinery and furniture, all in context, before any decisions are locked in.
02 -Physical Materials. Alongside your renders, we bring physical material samples to the table. You'll touch and see the actual timbers, fabrics, stones and hardware - not just pixels on a screen.
03 - Working Drawings. Only once you're confident in the design do we progress to detailed working drawings and coordinate with your tradespeople. No surprises, no expensive changes mid-build.
What we do
Custom Joinery Design. Kitchens, cabinetry, wardrobes and built-ins, designed to belong to your home - not borrowed from a catalogue. Drawn in detail, documented for tender, ready for your builder.
Furniture & Décor Sourcing. Considered pieces, curated across every room. Sourced from Melbourne's best suppliers and the international showrooms worth knowing about - chosen to suit your home, not fill it.
Full Interior Design. From the first conversation to the final cushion. Concept, renders, materials, joinery, sourcing, styling, install - handled end to end, by us.

Frequently Asked Questions.
How much does interior design cost in Moonee Ponds?
Interior design fees in Moonee Ponds vary depending on the scope of your project, the size of your home, and the level of service you need. At Studio Carlyle, we work across a range of project scales — from single-room joinery and furniture briefs through to full whole-home interior design. We provide transparent fee proposals upfront so there are no surprises, and our process is structured to help you make confident decisions before any money is spent on trades or materials. The best starting point is a consultation where we can understand your brief and give you a clear picture of investment.
Do you work with Edwardian and Victorian homes?
Absolutely — period homes are some of our favourite projects. Moonee Ponds has a beautiful stock of Edwardian and Victorian homes, and designing for them requires a genuine understanding of their proportions, detailing and character. At Studio Carlyle we approach period renovations with care — whether that means working with original features and heritage overlays, or introducing contemporary elements that feel considered rather than jarring. Our bespoke joinery design is particularly well suited to period homes, where custom cabinetry and built-ins need to respond to existing architecture rather than fight against it.
What does the interior design process involve?
At Studio Carlyle, our process is built around giving you complete clarity before anything is built. We begin with a detailed consultation to understand your brief, lifestyle and budget. From there we develop a design concept and present it to you via high-quality photorealistic renders, alongside physical material samples — so you can see and feel exactly how your space will look before any decisions are locked in. Only once you are fully confident in the design do we progress to working drawings and trade coordination. This render-first approach means fewer costly changes during construction and a much smoother build experience.
Do I need an architect before engaging an interior designer?
Not necessarily — it depends on your project. If you are undertaking structural work, an extension, or a new build, an architect or building designer will typically lead that process and Studio Carlyle works seamlessly alongside them to deliver the interior design scope. For renovations, joinery projects, furniture and styling briefs, or fit-outs that don't involve structural changes, you can engage Studio Carlyle directly without an architect involved. We are experienced in working both independently and as part of a broader consultant team, and we're happy to advise you on the right approach for your specific project during an initial consultation.
Can you work with my builder?
Yes — and we do it regularly. Studio Carlyle produces detailed working drawings and specifications that give your builder exactly what they need to price and execute the design accurately. We are experienced in collaborating with builders across Melbourne's inner north and west, and we understand how to communicate design intent in a way that translates cleanly from concept to construction. If you don't yet have a builder, we are also happy to point you in the right direction based on your project type and budget.
What suburbs do you work in around Moonee Ponds?
Our studio is in Moonee Ponds, and we work with clients across Melbourne's inner north and west — including Aberfeldie, Essendon, Ascot Vale, Strathmore, Brunswick, Hawthorn East and beyond. We also take on projects further afield, including the Mornington Peninsula. Distance is rarely a barrier to good design — what matters is whether we're the right fit for your home and your brief.
How long does an interior design project take?
Every project is different, but as a guide: a single-room joinery or furniture brief might take 6–10 weeks from initial consultation to documentation; a whole-home renovation typically runs 4–8 months through design and documentation, before construction begins. Our render-first process means we invest more time at the design stage so the build itself runs smoother and faster — and we'll always give you a realistic timeline upfront during your initial consultation.
